Ever have a day where you wish you could just escape into that person you always secretly wished you could be? Today was that day for me.
Who do I wish I could be, you ask? I wish I could be a jazz singer.
Not just a jazz singer, but a jazz singer in the glory days of jazz music. Singing in the world where Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Arethra Franklin, and Billie Holiday were fresh and new, me being one of those white girls that’s magically able to keep up right with them.
There’s something just so romantic about it, singing in a smoky bar or a darkened 1940’s esque lounge/nightclub. I wish I had the voice for it, it would be such a fun thing to be able to do.
